When the WWE Championship was declared exclusive to SmackDown LIVE after the WWE Brand Extension, Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley introduced the Universal Championship as the premier title of Monday Night Raw. The Universal Title subsequently transferred to the blue brand when "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt defeated Seth Rollins in 2019.
